Location: Ottawa County Health Center
Job Summary:
The ultrasound technologist performs diagnostic imaging to support the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. The technologist will work directly with patients, physicians, radiologists, and other medical professionals to capture quality sonographic images and deliver exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations, explaining the procedure to ensure comfort and understanding.
- Operate ultrasound equipment to capture high-quality images of the body, including but not limited to abdominal, obstetric, gynecologic, cardiac, musculoskeletal, and vascular exams.
- Write concise reports summarizing the ultrasound findings for interpretation by Radiologists.
- Maintain equipment and clean work environment.
- Cross train into diagnostic imaging and laboratory, depending on department needs.
- Hospital setting, with rotating on-call shifts, depending on department needs.
- Assist with department tasks and other duties as assigned.
- Comply with safety, confidentiality, and infection control protocols.
- Keep up-to-date with advancements in ultrasound technology and participate in required continuing education.
Qualifications:
- Certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent
- 1-3 years of experience preferred
- Effective communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
- Ability to lift, transfer, and position patients
- Proficient in operating ultrasound equipment and performing various ultrasound procedures
